Yes, I am the fellow responsible for building the code contraption known as DarkStarlings. I am pleased to have you here as a guest and hope you will enjoy your stay.
Despite what my duties here entail, I'm usually a quiet, reserved sort of person. Neither idle banter nor loud proclamations are really my cup of tea, though I've found both to be quite necessary in running a site such as this one.
I'm given more to long periods of observation and contemplation; absorbing, pondering and extrapolating information in a cycle that could become endless were I not more careful.
You might then find it odd that such an apparently introverted person would be interested in running a social networking website. I do find the technicals of coding and administering my own CMS quite fascinating. It's enjoyable for me to tinker with code, come up with new ideas for things and refine the way all of the various systems work together for efficiency. Even more fascinating is to do all of this and then to sit back and watch as others find ways to relate to and through the systems I've constructed.
It does bring me great joy when I see that others find the product of my work useful and enjoyable. But I'm more often the type to watch, smile for a bit and then go back off into my own little world...

The things which interest me most deeply are scattered across the breadth of science: Human health, medicine and psychology. Space, time and the universe. The earth, its history, its animal and plant life. The advancement of technology and its effect on the human condition. Certain areas of history and politics.
Yes, these are broad topics and I don't wish to portray myself as sitting on some high mountain top, contemplating these huge issues of great importance to the betterment of all mankind. That isn't it at all.
This is it: I like to collect information, to ponder things, to imagine from these things. I simply enjoy knowledge. And so if you want to know what I like, I'm compelled to list such broad topics, these things which perhaps seem of a grandiose nature.
Perhaps, though, this is why idle banter was never quite my bag. My mind has certain mechanical trappings. I ask myself questions like, "What is the purpose of this communication?" Others seem to skip this step in my flow chart. It's not that I feel I'm above making small talk, gossiping and chit-chatting with others, it's that I feel I'm not very good at it. I have been known to make attempts, though. Alcohol aids in this pursuit.

A: First, relax. Feel better? Now, copy and paste a copy of the chain letter to me so that I can wipe it from the site. I often find that there are hundreds or even thousands of copies of the same chain letter when I run the wipe out, so your report is much appreciated. And the spots usually go away after a little while.

Q: How did you build this site? How could I build a site like this?
A: I coded this site from scratch using the PHP scripting language. It is based on the MySQL database engine. If you wanted to build a site like this, you'd need to spend some time learning about PHP and MySQL. I spent a number of months doing so myself.
Q: What made you build this site?
A: This site is my latest attempt at building a place for people with "underground" predispositions to congregate. After seeing a number of other profile sites and getting some ideas I decided that I'd one day like to build one of my own. When my coding skills eventually reached a sufficient level to do so, I went for it.
Q: Who drew the pictures of you on your profile? Did you draw them?
A: No, I didn't draw any of the pictures. Different pictures were drawn by different artists, please see the captions.
