Bottled water vs filtered.
October 3, 2009, 1:45PM

Do you buy bottled water? Why exactly?
Cons:
-60 million plastic bottles are thrown out every day in America alone.
It's also a leading source of plastic pollution.

-It takes millions of gallons of fuel to transport them.

-It takes 3 times as much water to make the bottle as it does to fill it.

-It's impossible to get chemical free water from a bottle or from the tap.

-Plastic bottles release chemicals into your water. Like BPA.
BPA ingestion is linked with cancer, and reproductive damage.

-Most studies show the quality is no better than tap water.

-Federal regulations only require bottled water to be as good as
tap water, not better.

-90% or so of the cost is the bottle, the lid, and the label you're buying.

Pros of filtered water:

-You only need to pay for the filter once. Instead of spending hundreds
of dollars a year on bottled water.

-You don't have to leave your house if you run out of water.

-You can pick the degree of purity you want.

-You won't be making any waste, or pollution.

-You won't be adding chemicals like BPA to your water.

-You'll be drinking a higher quality cleaner water.

So why not use a filter at home? It's too hard to fill a glass
bottle yourself? To put a pitcher of water in the fridge?

I usually drink tap water since it's the only thing available to me currently. I'd love to have water that's cleaner though.

Do you find the mucus in your nasel passage makes breathing a chore? Well then, perhaps you don't deserve to breathe at all.

They have pretty nice filters around $25-$35.
I've never had one before, because I never paid much attention.

As soon as we get a place to live I'm going to get one. I was oogling
them yesterday at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. XD

We need a filter, tbh.
I'm not sure why we haven't bought one.

But our water has rust and all sorts of icky things in it,
as it comes right from the well.

AWFUL tasting. I tried it the day we moved here, 9 years ago,
and haven't sipped it since. (I use it to brush my teeth though, obviously).

I've always liked well water better than city water.
I'd pass on the rust too, though.

The older filters are actually more trouble. They catch
alot of floaties and eventually if you don't take them out
and clean them they start clogging. You get all kinds of
weird stuff in your water. -.-
My Sister uses water strictly from her bathroom over that.
Instead of ya know..cleaning or removing the filter. xD

At first I wanted to get a fridge that had a filter built in,
but I can't see trying to clean or replace that if it were needed.
New filters are much nicer.♥

I use filter. Only time I buy water is if I'm really dehydrated and not at home (obviously).

When I had a fridge with a filter, I used that.
But I'm a college student. I need my drink to be on the go, haha. I get bottled water to stock in my fridge so I can grab it and go.
I also drink a lot of flavored water, so, again, bottles.

If I can find a small filter-pitcher that won't take up my entire minifridge space and is cheap, I'll get it and just use refill my bottles.

I buy bottled water and then take it home and refill for a few months, then throw them out and then buy more and do the same.

Spring water is wonderful. Hard to come across in a lot of places, though.

Meh
None of that really bothers me.
If I got bottled water, I drink it.
If not, I drink tap water.
